(May 1, 2012) — University of Kentucky College of Education senior Logan Bright first learned about " 4 Paws for Ability ," a program that trains and places service dogs, before she transferred to UK in the fall of 2009. Once she arrived, she quickly established a chapter on UK's campus, since she saw the potential of the program. 4 Paws for Ability enriches the lives of children with disabilities by training and placing quality, task-trained service dogs. This provides increased independence for the children and assistance to their families. 4 Paws also works with veterans from recent conflicts who’ve lost the use of their limbs or their hearing while in active combat.4 Paws for Ability teams up with local universities to bring on-campus foster programs to their schools. Students foster 4 Paws service dog puppies and bring them along to class, activities, meetings, shopping, and events which is an excellent way for puppies to gain all sorts of experience.
